Stone Bridge, Rhododendron Park Kromlau, Germany

I wanted to take a moment thank everyone who has taken time to read my posts and to wish all a happy holiday season.

Since starting the site 10 weeks ago, I have been presently surprised to receive almost 1,300 views of articles and posts.   A number of people who have signed up to receive the posts by email.  I do not know how to quantify that exactly but am confident that increases the number to over 1,500 hits. I do not know if that number of hits is a good result or not.  There is no advertising of any sort or paid placement with search engines.  1,500 for 30 posts or pages seems pretty good to me.

Most of the hits come from the US, but I do not recognize several email addresses of those who have signed up to receive posts by email.  What I find most surprising is that I have had readers from Canada, Mexico, the Philippines, Italy, France, Britain, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, and Poland.  I have relatives and friends in Russia, Holland and Switzerland, but I do not know anyone in the other nine countries and I never expected there would be such an international diversity of readers.

If you google “Harbin Ice and Snow Festival, China.” you will find many spectacular snow and ice sculptures.

I do want to encourage anyone who has the interest to check out the links “Today in History” and “Famous Births and Deaths.”  I use several sources to come up with daily events big and small and I try to explain their greater importance.  It is something of a grind to update these pages daily, a month of events, births and deaths take up about 100 pages of a Word document.  In spite of the work, I learn a lot which is one of the goals of this site.  With family commitments, I sometimes get behind on Saturday and Sunday, but if you check on a daily basis you will usually find something posted.

So once again, I want to thank everyone who has taken time to read my posts.  There are an infinite number of things to write about and I have several posts in various states of completion.  I welcome any observations, corrections, complaints, etc. so feel free to write comments or email me as you see fit.

Happy holidays,

John McNeer
